Andrew Jones

The Killer Group is led by Andrew Jones.

Andrew is one of Australia’s leading business strategists, particularly in sport. He is best known for guiding Australian Cricket through an unprecedented period of growth from 2004-2019 as a strategy consultant, then strategy executive, at Cricket Australia, then as CEO of Cricket NSW.

He later assisted Netball NSW and Racing.com via stints as Interim CEO and was CEO of Racing Victoria from 2022-2024.

Among many other projects in cricket, Andrew was intimately involved in the creation of the Big Bash and its successors the BBL and WBBL, which became the No.1 and No.4-rating sports competitions in Australia.

Andrew also personally led the professionalisation of the NSW women’s cricket team in 2016. Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers’ Association followed by professionalising the other States the next year, transforming the fan, participation and economic base of the cricket.

Later, Andrew led the development of the Australian Golf Strategy 2022-2025 for Golf Australia, the PGA & WPGA.

He also assisted Racing Victoria with multiple media rights deals as a consultant and Racing.com Director before helping secure in excess of $2b in funding as RV CEO.

Beyond sport, Andrew has advised organisations across a wide range of industries including finance, law, funds management, private equity, property development, hotels, mining, basic materials, engineering services, manufacturing and distribution, transport & logistics, e-commerce, media, consumer entertainment and government. He is also an active investor in multiple sectors.

Andrew began his career at leading global consulting firm McKinsey & Company before starting his own practice, interrupted by executive stints in cricket, netball and racing. He has an MBA from Stanford and a law degree from UNSW, which allows an integrated understanding of key commercial and regulatory issues.

He is also a credited film & television screenwriter giving him a unique perspective on the entertainment elements of the business of sport.

Andrew offers focus, independence and knowledge to time-poor Boards and CEOs wrestling with big opportunities and challenges. And having been a CEO himself, he understands the practical and political – not just theoretical – elements of getting things done.

He is motivated by helping people and organisations achieve their potential hence enjoys working with ethical and energetic people focused on improvement and growth.
